About West Side Horsham

West Side Horsham (formally West Side Tabaret) has been the site of many functions over the years – birthdays, weddings, engagements, anniversaries, family reunions, celebrations of life and many more functions where people come together in a relaxed atmosphere.

Vicky McClure, general manager, says the view from the function room is a real draw card. "To have the race course right at the door is something people always comment on – the green grass available is perfect for kids to play out on, and especially around sunset, the view looking out to the Horsham CBD is stunning."

Another feature of the West Side function room is the ability to self-cater; choosing your own preferred caterers and using the kitchenette to prepare your guests' food takes the stress out of hosting your party. West Side provides bar staff for your own private bar to keep the drinks flowing.

"We also have a large off-street car parking area for party guests, free WIFI available for those who like to stream their entertainment, and plenty of space for a DJ or live band," Vicky says. "Adding to that, we have a projector available where you just need to bring in a HDMI ported laptop to connect."

West Side Horsham has now been operating for 22 years. Built under the governance of the Horsham and District Harness Racing Club and the Horsham Racing Club (later changed to the Wimmera Racing Club), the venue was established after the old Grand Stand was condemned and demolished.

A new grandstand and venue were then built, featuring a glassed track viewing area and bar.

"We're a full functioning and licensed venue with TAB, Sky Racing, drink and snack food available," Vicky said. "We are also very community-minded – West Side Horsham offers free room hire for not-for-profit organisations, and we match Wimmera Wally donations to local charities."

"We have great turnouts to our fundraisers, and we're always happy to support local charities."
